Checklist for SEO Newbies

Every webmaster is concerned about which SEO strategies should be used to achieve the highest possible ranking and exposure in search engines. Wouldn't it be nice to have a specific list of things like this? The following is my attempt to develop a comprehensive set of straightforward SEO strategies that, given enough time, will guarantee your website's top ranking.

1. Make a list of actual keywords

Let me begin by describing the procedure for selecting keywords. The keyword selector tool from Overture that I highly recommend is one that allows you to see the keywords or keyword phrases that are most popular and attract the most visitors. Keep the following things in mind when choosing your keywords:

Keywords with high rankings are already taken

The estimated number of times that SEO was searched for as a keyword in the past month is 74002. With 14271, SEO Company comes in second. 30,000,000 URLs are found when you Google SEO, with SEO Today and SEO Chat coming in first and second, respectively. Imagine how many Google referrals these two websites receive!

Focus on keywords with low to medium traffic

Using the same Overture link analysis, I can see that keywords like "website SEO" and "web SEO" are at the bottom of the list, with 562 and 536 searches, respectively. This indicates that these keywords are not yet competitive and that optimizing for them would make sense.

As can be seen, keywords that are less competitive have a better chance of bringing in more visitors. Therefore, choose your keywords wisely, avoiding those with a high level of competition but not settling for the lowest possible rank.

  When selecting keywords, be specific

Choose keywords that are unique to your website whenever possible. Take, for instance, the phrase "SEO company in Honolulu" instead of "SEO company." This will significantly narrow the focus of your website and increase its relevance to search engines.

2. Include key phrases in your title tags

What's in your title tags is very important to search engines. In point of fact, Google prioritizes title tags when listing search results. Each item displays your search queue in bold. It is critical that each page on your website has a title, that the title includes a keyword or keyword phrase, and that your content supports the title's concept. On that last one, more in the future.

3. Make your content more relevant to specific keywords

On the Internet, content reigns supreme, and Google takes great pride in providing you with the most relevant results. As a result, here is a list of essential content optimization strategies.

Include keywords in the H1, H2, etc. tags

After your title tag, this is the next important thing that search engines like to look at. It goes without saying that all subheaders and all headers ought to be enclosed by H2 tags. The ideal situation is for your Title tag's keywords to match those in your H1 or H2 tags. H3, H4, and so on are also important, but they are less stressed than their brothers with lower numbers.

In your anchor text, use keywords

Use a phrase that includes your keywords as the anchor text for a link to a different page. I highly recommend using keywords that appear in the page's Title and Header tags for the best results.

Keep your keywords separate from the rest of the content

Having keywords bolded, in a larger font, or even in a different color is a great way to keep this in mind. Consider combining all three. Think about how your header tags can help you accomplish that.

Prioritize the most important keywords at the very top of the page

This is a hit with Google. Since the majority of a website's hotspots are at the top, search engines know that your website is not spam but rather about ideas behind keywords. Combining this strategy with the one that came before it will be a pretty potent Philadelphia SEO agency move on your part.

  Hyper-linking between pages

This method will not only make it possible for search engine robots to properly index your website, but it will also increase your relevance. When doing so, don't forget to keep keywords and anchor text in mind.

4. Develop a Sitemap

Sitemaps are an excellent way to inform search engines where to look for new pages. If every page on your website can be accessed through links, you won't have any trouble getting indexed by robots. Keep in mind that content is robot food, and robots are pretty hungry. You should use Google's Sitemaps program [https://www.google.com/webmasters/sitemaps/login] if you haven't already. With it, you can manually tell Googlebot which pages are indexable and how frequently they are updated. This brings me to my next point.

5. Always keep your content up to date

If Search Engines stop visiting you, you won't be indexed, and if they don't, you won't rank well. The search engines Google and others adore new content. Certain blogs are outperforming major websites in part because of this. Adding RSS headlines to your pages or adding a blog to a corporate website can both be quick and easy ways to keep content fresh.

6. Obtain pertinent backlinks

You need important websites to link to you in order to become important. Naturally, in order to accomplish that, you must be useful enough to obtain a backlink. Backlinks ending in.gov or.edu are a jackpot in either case. Depending on how frequently Googlebot crawls your website, Google moves you up the rankings in a matter of days. I won't go into detail here because there are a few black-hat SEO methods for obtaining backlinks from.gov and.edu domains. Pure white-hat SEO is used here. Send me an email, though, if you're interested, and I'll do my best to educate you.

In any case, try to get links from sites in your field. They ought to be optimized for keywords that are similar to your own, and links ought to have anchor text that includes the keywords of your website.

7. Keep waiting

Patience is the key when working with Google or any other search engine. Webmasters are irritated in some way by things like Sandbox. It all comes down to figuring out how reliable your website is. Backlinks are very important. In this scenario, tens of backlinks from lower-ranked dot-coms will barely move your toes, while one backlink from a site with a high ranking could propel you to the top.

Most importantly, keep in mind that Google takes time to index the Web. Every day, billions of websites are updated, necessitating a crawl of all of them. Since a few more incoming links can significantly shorten the wait time, this should be your goal for the next few months while you wait patiently. Moving on to the last point.

8. Avoid cheating the bots

You put in a lot of effort creating content, optimizing your pages, researching keywords, and reading about SEO strategies. Don't continue to waste all of this by linking to irrelevant websites (comment spam on blogs), keyword-stuffed content (please, people are actually reading you!), or concealing text (blending your keywords into the background solely for the benefit of bots). I won't go into all of the black-hat methods here, but you get the idea. The point is that committing such minor infractions can result in your removal from Google or any other search engine. It would be awful to be kicked out after attempting to enter for so long, wouldn't it?
